I'm a mom and an author, those are my full time jobs. In between breakfast and getting the kids off to school, I'm thinking about plots. While helping with homework, making dinner or getting it on the table, I'm looking at my character's motivation. So in between that my mind need to decompress, if not I'd be bat shit crazy within a few months. I dance it out at clubs with friends and my DH or I go to movies (a lot of movies) but I'm always looking for ways to relax and get away from the words. My new love is painting. Myself and Tressie Lockwood took a painting class and I fell in love with this new medium to release tension.
So now not only haunting bookstores is a weekend past time, I head to the art supply store to stock up on paints, canvasses and brushes. I buy tutorials and teach myself new methods and now I can see a picture and say Hmmm I would like to try and put this on a canvas. Now I'm not the greatest painter in the word. I would like to picture myself wearing a beret in a loft studio painting and conveying my emotion on huge canvases. But alas this is not to be. Instead I set up in my office and with a bottle of wine and music pouring out of my computer I play with colors. Hey maybe I'm an artist after all. Writing is one form of expression and now I have this. I love both!!
The one thing is that I have the paintings stacking up in my office and while I love it, I'm running out of room. So Tell me my dahlins, what is your form of relaxation? Is it swimming or dancing, reading or doing cartwheels in the park...or chocolate and sex!! Oooooh Is all a way to release luvvies. Comment here and you will be drawn to receive one of my pieces in the mail. LOL Look ma!! I even talk like an artist!!... ahem..You'll have a Dahlia Rose original to hang on the wall, or throw at the dog, Hey he might like it too. LOL its not the best work like I said but I'm honored to offer it to you. Now I've got a few readers who get first pick. But the rest are up for grabs. I'll note who has what in another post after they choose. Below is what I create when I lock away in my office at night. Hope you like it!!

Relax...what is that? I don't know that I really do anything to relax, although I do find many of the things that I do for my careers relaxing. I love being in the darkroom developing film and making great black and white prints. I guess that's somewhat relaxing.
Your paintings are very nice. I like Sweet the best.

My favorite way to relax is sitting infront of my fireplace with a glass of red wine, or a hot beverage reading, or collecting vintage handbags and jewelry. All of your creations are Awesome!
It's great that you have a creative outlet to engage in beside your writing. Fortunately for my unartistic self, I can get lost in the books that are written by my favorite writers. That method of relaxation is also weather friendly. My other method of relaxation, playing tennis, is only pleasurable when it is nice outside.
