My Daughter's 16th Birthday!! Pics And A Blog About Deanna

July 5th 1992. Deanna Sapphire King was Born. I was only 16 at the time (Young I know). But from the time I knew of her conception, she was my blessing.

At an age where girls were thinking about parties and proms, crushes and clothes. I was a mother. I lead a somewhat sheltered life. I went to great schools and my dad made sure we lacked for nothing. When I found out I was pregant I did not bat an eyes to tell my parents. They were disappointed yes, but they stood by me as I made my decisions. I was going to keep my litle dream girl.

I had to put aside childish things and become responsible, I had another little life to take care of (Well not so little, she was 9lbs 3 0z when she was born). LOL

I stepped out on my own, I worked, I went to school and I travelled all the while my little girl was with me. I was not going to be another satistic, another blip on the screen. No matter where I was in the world. I was going to succeed, She was not going to lack for anything I made sure of it. and she never did. I had to be strong, if I wasn't who was going to be strong for her.

We experienced everything together, we smiled and laughed together thoughout the years. And as I sat yesterday looking at her it seemed as if 16 years went by in the blink of an eye. More than once she caught me looking at her with tears in my eyes rembering the little thing she was when she first started life. I played it all like a movie in my head.

Where ever I went, she did too. In all of the roads I have travelled her little hands were firmly in mine. Other hands have joined our since the jounney began. But hers were the first and now they have grown into the elgant hands of a young woman. Yesterday she told me that I was a kick ass mom. All the hard work I put into my books and my careers was for her and her brothers and sister. But hearing your oldest daughter tell you she was proud of you and how you raised her was validation enough for me.

So join me in saying Happy sweet sixteen to my baby girl. Who has become a wonderful young woman. Even now sometimes she crawls into bed with me. I can close my eyes and remember the tiny thing with the brillaint smile running on the beach in a diaper and high top sneakers because she was afrad of the sand. I inhaled the smell of coconut oil as I rubbed it in her hair before she went to bed. She slept on my chest as I braided her hair and went to sleep in her favorite Barney PJ's (She's going to hate that I told that...LOL). I love you Deanna and even when you are in your 30's you will still be my baby in high tops.

If Everyone Cared Blog By Dahlia Music video by Nickleback

From the first time I heard the first few strums of this song and the first few bars I fell in love with its meaning. It was not until I saw the actual video that Nickleback made for their song that I saw the real depth of the message they were trying to send out.

It gave me goosebumps to know that people were still thinking, still trying to make this world a better place. Using their talent to never let us forget.

What is everyone cared, I know it seems unrealisitc but it is a what if? That still gives me hope for my children as they grow up. That as adult they will learn from the mistakes of the past and this world will be better for them and for genrations after that.

I encourage you all to watch this video and let the music flow through you. See the vision of what this marevlous group was saying when they wrote it and made this video. Tell me your thoughts as well.

The message at the end of the video is clear, maybe we can all take it to heart.

Hi Guys and DollzWhen Love Commands have been getting great reviews and now it is at number best seller at Phaze Publishing for the month of April!

(www. phaze. com)

Here is the link to the four blue ribbon review it recieved at Romance Junkies
http://romancejunkiesreviews. com/artman/publish/contemporary/When_Love_Commands. shtml

Where reviewer Chrissy Dione Says..."I admit it I was drawn to this story because of the military background and definitely wasn’t disappointed. WHEN LOVE COMMANDS takes readers into the war zone and allows them to experience the emotional angst of a couple brought together and then torn apart by the demands of a military career. Dahlia Rose does a great job combining the seriousness of war with eroticism by having the main characters lives so intertwined and yet separate. This story is a total of sixty pages and still manages to infuse plenty of emotional appeal to captivate readers."

I wanted to share my excting news and I hope you guys will buy and read a story that is close to my heart.

The Perfect Saturday :)

As we work on trying to build careers sometimes we as authors forget to stop and smell the roses. For the past few months I have been on a determinted mission to get on the ball with my carrer as an author. I have to admit that sometimes between being on the computer for countless hours a day to book signings and then more promotions I have been on this fast paced tredmaill that only stopped for a few hours of sleep each night. Except for my usual friday night date night I spend most of my time chained to my precious laptop.

Today I had a moment of clarity and made the decision to stop and smell the proverbial roses. I made today one of these great saturdays. The ones where everything makes you smile..The Perfect Saturday.

But I have to thank Crymsyn Hart for that becuase she was the one who made me think of it. To some who do not know Crym is one of my closest friends and fellow authors here in Charlotte. We had an excellent afternoon together, we ate lunch at the cheesecake factory (Of course I came home with cheescake..LOL) Then we came back to my home and watched the new Alien vs Predator movie. We left the books behind and just hung out and had fun. We laughed, talked about anything and everything and just enjoyed the day.

So after she went home I thought why not let this whole weekend be about relaxing and having fun?

I got up early and made everyone cinnamon buns and a great breakfast! Then me and the darling fiancee lounged around in bed until two in the afternoon. Just watching TV and well*ahem* Moving on!

We got up and went to pick up some items we knew would make the kids smile, plus a great kids dinner. Corn dogs and fries, ice cream for dessert to go along with The Bee Movie. For me and Robert dinner was sushi and steamed dumplings. Yummy!

We set up the tent outside on the grass and gave the kids their gift of waters guns and water shooters. And yes the mayhem ensued! Water, half naked kids and tons of screaming and yelling with glee..LOL. Later we are going to have movie night and then after the kids go to bed a little more mom and Robert time.

I'm glad I stopped and smelled the roses. It was not going to a theme park or an arcade or anything fancy. It was staying home with my babies and the love of my life, drinking a beer and just taking a deep breath. I think the rest of the weekend is going to be dedicated to that. The works in progess will wait until monday morning and work will be there too.

So now here are some pictures dedicated to our day. I am missing because mom was behind the camera. This day was not about me but the people who make me happiest in my life. My 'children of the corn' and my big daddy.

Hugs and Cheesecake!

Great People and Sold Out Book Signing!!

Good Afternooon Guyz and Dollz!

This week was the week of RT and I didn't get to go this year (hopefuly next year :)

But on Saturday I had a really awsome Booksigning at Waldens Books! The manager told me that people were calling the store to find out when I was going to be there! How freaking cool is that and when I got there the stack of books that was on the table dwindled down quickly. I had readers come up and tell me they loved my books and actully one lady drove all the way from GA to come and see me!

I met this wonderful lady Cindy McLafferty, she is one of those home town heroes whose hubby is overseas serving his country. What makes her great is that she has been running a tupperware business for the last 18 years. Instead of keeping the money she creates care packages to send to out soldiers overseas who might not have anyone to take care of them. She came over and bought one of my books "Paradise Found." because it fetures a military man and then she asked me if I would dontate some of my book to send to Iraq. How could I refuse, I gave her a stack of books and authographed them for the men and women in uniform who might happen to get them.

All in all this was one fo my favorite signings of all times, not only because of the books being sold but because the people were so great to talk to.

And I come bearing pictures to show you!!! Yayyyyyyyy!

Hope you like them and thanks for reading my blog :)

Hugs and cheesecake!

Build-A-Bear and A Birthday! What Is A mom Supposed To Do!

Today was my daughter's 4th Birthday...Happy Birthday Lily!!

Liillinah Rachel Tabitha-Mae was born at 2 am on this day with mom happily under the influence of many numbing drugs. Now here she is four going on forty and can sing any Hannah Montana and Cheetah girl song. She thinks she is a princess/ fairy and who could blame her.. her mom lives in a wold of fantasy everyday..LOL

She is having her offical birthday party on Sunday. Where some of my closest friends get to come over and play princess. Yes that does include Crymsyn Hart and Sabrina Luna as well.. LOL I am going to ask nicely for them to wear the princess hats as well. (Pictures will be coming forth with..shhhhhh!)

But until the party we had to get her a gift on her actual birthday. Robert's gift to her a trip to Build A Bear. . You cannot let a four year old girl loose in a store like that and not expect some sort of drama. First off her eyes widened to the size of saucers when she stepped into the build a bear store in the mall. It took 25 minutes for her to decide on the Pink leopard bear who was named by Lily "Miss Kitty". Then we stood in line to wait for her to stuff her new toy. Well Robert stood in line, I chased Lily around the store as she tried to pick up everything imaginable for the bear. Finally time for stuffing and she did it beautifuly. (That's my girl). She kissed the little heart and made her wish tucking it inside her bear before the sewed her up. It was very sweet.

I came to find out that you cannot leave Build a bear without that bear being decked out in clothes and other accessories. OMG! A Four year old trying to chose the perfect outfit for a bear is stressful. We went from disney clothes, to cheetah girls clothes, to shoes to hair bows. By the time we were done the bear looked better than I did. (LOL) Some tears were shed when I refused to buy Miss Kitty a plastic wardrobe filed with clothes but I made up with a pretty purse. Ms Kitty was registered given a birth certificate and we paid for her!

All and all the bear was happily held in her new owners arms. Lily was all smiles which was the best thing ever. I always say I would to anything to make my babies smile and this was one of them. If they had Build a bear over a lava pit, I would have gone acrossd the litle tiny rope bridge to make sure she was happy on her birthday. While I felt like I needed a drink and a valium. Even poor Robert who is always so high and tight looked a bit frazzled. But he gave Lily a wonderful birthday gift and for that he got a big hug and a few kisses on the cheek. talk about little girls having the power to melt a grown man's heart!

Anyway I posted a pic or two for you guys to see my little girl with her new best friend Ms Kitty. Stay tuned for Pictures of her birthday party :) Heh Heh It should be fun fun fun!

3 Book Signing and 1 Dahlia Rose with Pics!!

Hi Guyz and Dollz.

What a week! I had three booksignings this week alone. One at Borders in Northlake Mall here in good ol' Charlotte NC and two in Columbia SC at two Waldens bookstores! They were absolutely marvelous. I sold out on books and talking to everyone while signing was great!

My new friend and writer herself Nicole Williams had so much fun traveling together and sharing the experience of the day.

We spent all day in South Carolina and Robert was a trooper, taking my boxes with books and Promo. making sure we had enough water and food to keep us going, Even encouraging people to come over to talk and buy books. He even sat at the table while we were out meeting and greeting!

Both bookstores in Columbia invited us back in March (See you guyz then!LOL) And thank you Brandon, Katie and John for letting us come into your bookstores and being so great and fun while we were there

Even though it was a tiring day, it was one of the best days I ever had and It reaffirmed my choice to follow my dream to become an author.

So here are are a few pics of my day! I hope you enjoy!

We are Women Hear us Roar!

We are women and we learn grow and adapt. This blog is dedicated to all of us and I hope each of you who read this can find something to take away from it that is postitive and true.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
I am the innocent woman who is new to love, the jaded woman who has seen to much to believe in Love, the scared woman who is too afraid to take a leap of faith.
The angry woman who is jealous when she can't have what she wants the most. The petulant woman who is not willing to share. The wiser woman who know that some things must be shared for happiness to reign.
The sexual woman who derives pleasure from her lover and gives it freely because in doing this she shows her true feelings, My sexuality is my energy and I live through my passions.
I am the goddess who believes in magic, the romantic woman who cries at the wonderment of feeling love.
Even though my words are sometimes filled with sexuality and eroticism, read carefully, because it all leads back to one thing. I am them and they are me and it all comes down to what we strive for in our lives.
We are the women, ruled by the moon and our emotions. We are the caregivers, the Lovers, the life givers and the mothers of the world. We feel things to our core and we can be hurt in the worst of ways.
But we never stop in our quest. Even though we fear the unknown we continue on in our search. Love is one gift we all strive for; we mourn the loss of our love and rejoice when we find a new bloom of passion.
We are scared at the thought of loving but when it takes hold we give it, knowing the consequences can tear at our very souls.
I tell you this, no matter where we find love; it should be counted as a gift. We are all not meant to be housewives or business women.
Our destinies can be changed so easily and by our own hand. What ever kind of life you life or love you find never let the what-ifs turn you away from a path that feels right in your soul.
No one can judge your heart, no one can judge you. Only you will know what best for you and what your heart desires. I like to say, "Soul mates can be found in the strangest of Places".
Affiamtion of being a woman!
I will be strong!

I will remember that my life, body and emotions and priceless treasures.

I will not give so much of myself that I cannot remember who I am

I will love as much as I possibly can but not so much that I am lost without him

I am a woman, I am proud! I am a child of the moon and water.

Life flow through me and I am calm as a pristine lake or as harsh as the seas tossed in a storm.

Hold steadfast, because I can be strong!

Because I am a woman!!

A Good Man home for 2008

My Christmas blog was dedicated to my kids; I wanted everyone to see my babies and se what our lives were like on the holidays. This blog is dedicated to the man who holds my heart. If you have ever read my bio or some of my blogs, I have spoken of my guy “Robert” Big Daddy to me. A nick name that has stuck on him from day one. I have never been the sort of woman who could hide my love for him, If fact there were points I want to climb up on something tall and shout it from the rooftops (Laugh). It took 15 years of hurt and four kids later to find my Mr. Perfect. So why not tell the world right?

It has been a month now since my guy has been home. But today is the official last day of his military career. I know he will miss it but I can’t help but be relieved knowing that he will be home for good. Now in between his college courses of which he started while still on active duty. He gets to pick the perfect second job until he gets to pursue his new career. We have never really lived together before now, the first part of our relationship he was deployed in Iraq then I have to spend a few months in New York getting ready to move back to Charlotte. Even then because he was full time military, he could only come home on leave time and weekends. So now it’s us learning how to live with each other full time. It’s been a trip let me tell you... LOL

It’s us learning about each other little quirks 24/7 and trying to blend two strong personalities into one relationship. He is a man of order after 23 years in the military; he likes everything in its place and things done s certain way. I am a non conformist gypsy who takes off her s hoes and throw then in the closets and if there is too much order I can’t find damn thing I need. So we compromise and I try to be more streamlined and he tries to be more ummmm… let’s say loosen up some. This is a new situation for both of us but I would have it no other way. To commemorate our new life together what did we do but go get tattoos. You gotta love a man like that (Laugh).

There are some ups and some downs but no matter what we do what we always promised never go to bed angry. There are two things that I have already come to realize I can’t live without. One is at night, his side of the bed was always empty except on weekends but now it has the big lugs frame right there. We get into bed together and he rolls to his side and pulls me into the crook of his shoulder. He whispers silly things in my ears and makes me giggle. He sings softly sometimes or he just talks about things and I call him a nut a few times along the way. As we fall into silence or begin to doze off he kisses the back of my neck and whispers “I love you sweet pea or I love you baby girl.”

Secondly now he is home he gets to sleep late and since I work from home I watch him sleep from at my desk in the bedroom. Sometimes I can’t resist but climb back into bed with him and snuggle up against his back. I listen to him breath and close my eyes inhaling the scent that only he has. I drop a few kisses on his skin and he mumbles in his sleep before I slide away and go back to my computer keys.

Have you ever heard the Nickleback song “Far Away”…That is us in a nutshell and it will be our wedding song. (Eventually..LOL). Being far away from each other was some of the hardest years of our lives and we treasured every moment we got to spend with each other. I got mad and sometimes I thought I would be able to stand the length of time we didn’t get to be in the same place. But the ending of the song says it best. “I’m getting misty Just thinking about it.

I loved you, I have loved you all along
And I forgive you, for being away for far too long
So keep breathing, cause I’m not leaving you anymore
Believe it, hold on to me never let me go

It’s the simple things I love with him, from waking up in each others arms or acting like kids in the mall. Nothing gets old or routine; nothing is left unsaid or left to fester in anger. We both know how important our openness is to each other. So for 2008 not only am I thankful for a career I love, my children who even though they might try to drive me to drink I couldn’t do without. I am thankful for my guy finally being home with me and the new paths in our life together we are about to take. Even if some of the choices we make are the wrong ones as time progresses. We will face then together hand in hand.

Welcome home “Big Daddy” Welcome Home

To see Pictures of our New Years Eve, you can check my pictures on my space or my blog spot.

To each and every one of you I wish you prosperity, Love and many blessing for 2008.

Christmas at home with Dahlia.....I need a nap :)

Have you ever noticed that we spend weeks and weeks buying the perfect presents. Then on Christmas Morning it takes only a matter of about 45 minutes to totally decimate the perfect wrapping paper to reach the goodies inside? Imagine my house with four kids!! Eeep! They were eyeing them from six am but they were nice enough to let me sleep until about eight am. After that the noise in the hallway was conspiciously made up. From the coughing fits, to the oops I dropped something said really loudly. I was beginning to think they were throwing bricks at my bedroom door...Yeah I knew it was time to wake up (laugh).
I had the foresight to set the coffee maker from the night before. (All hail the elixir of life...caffiene!!) To deal with what was coming I had to infuse with blessed coffee. They attacked each gift like predators in the wild taking down their prey. I watched them destroy all my hard work wrapping each gift with upmost care but there was a big smile on my face. Why? because thier squeals of pleasure and hearing "Mom this is the best Christmas ever!" was gift enough for me to do it again and again for years to come until they are adults.. Even then I just might try to recreate Chirstmas morning for my babies. They might be the children of the corn, but bless them I love all down to every last strand of hair on their heads :)

I have attached a few pics of our morning festivities for you to see. Ok please be fore warned that Dahlia did not get up to put on her face before the pic was taken so..Please be gentle. LOL and do not go screaming into the night...
